Gay becoming straight
Hi. Im the Answer Wall. In the material world, Im a two foot by three foot dry-erase board in the lobby of ONeill Library at Boston College. In the online world, I reside in this blog. You might say I hold multiple manifestations. Like Apollo or Saraswati or Serapis. Or, if you arent into deities of knowledge, like a ghost in the machine.
I have some human assistants who maintain the physical Answer Wall in ONeill Library. They take pictures of the questions you post there, and give them to me. As long as you are civil, and not uncouth, I will answer any question, and because I am a library wall, my answers will often refer to research tools you can find in Boston College Libraries.
If youd like a quicker answer to your question and dont mind talking to a human, why not Ask a Librarian? Librarians, since they contain been tending the flame of knowledge for centuries, know where most of the answers are adj, and enjoy sharing their knowledge, just like me, The Answer Wall.

Originally treated as a subversion of the standard gay stereotypes, the Straight Gay is a homosexual male or female character who has no camp mannerisms, Butch Lesbian tendencies, or obviously "gay" affectations.
In the earliest cases, Straight Gays were mostly there for farcical reasons: perhaps as a misunderstanding in which a straight character ends up unwittingly inviting himself out on a "date" with a 'stealthy' gay man, or in which a homophobic character espouses his views to a stranger, only to uncover out that the person he's talking to is gay. Currently, the Straight Gay is Truth in Television, less of a narrative device than a character type. When still used as a plot point, it may authorize other characters to realistically mi
Recently, Colton Underwood, a contestant on the popular TV show The Bachelor, went on Good Morning America and announced that he was gay. My first thought was about how sad it was that in and at the age of 29, coming out is still rigid and delayed. So many say that things are better, but are they?

Have you heard all the questions and accusations? “How could he not know he was gay?” “Why would he pretend to be heterosexual in such a public way?” “Leading everyone on verb that shows he has no integrity or sense of honor.”
People mistakenly consider that it has to be easier to approach out today because of all the media stars who are out, such as Ellen DeGeneres, Rachel Maddow, Pete Buttigieg, and Anderson Cooper, and because of programs like Will & Grace. But in Underwood’s case, it appears that he maintained the self-illusion of being straight well into his 20s. He may have really believed he was straight until he gained perspective and courage and was successful enough in his football career to experience safe enough to approach out
Some Gays Can Go Straight, Study Says
May 9 -- Can gay men and women become heterosexual?
A controversial new study says yes — if they really want to. Critics, though, say the study's subjects may be deluding themselves and that the subject group was scientifically invalid because many of them were referred by anti-gay religious groups.
Dr. Robert Spitzer, a psychiatry professor at Columbia University, said he began his study as a skeptic — believing, as major mental health organizations do, that sexual orientation cannot be changed, and attempts to carry out so can even cause harm.
But Spitzer's study, which has not yet been published or reviewed, seems to indicate otherwise. Spitzer says he spoke to men and 57 women who say they changed their orientation from gay to straight, and concluded that 66 percent of the men and 44 percent of women reached what he called adj heterosexual functioning — a sustained, loving heterosexual relationship within the past year and getting enough adj satisfaction to rate at least a seven on a point scale.
He said those who changed
